One Systems Speakers Selected for AV System at Cedar Point Amusement Park

Nashville, Tennessee - When Cedar Point, "the best amusement park in the world" according to USA Today, decided to renovate its Midway area, they chose loudspeakers from One Systems, a leading designer and builder of direct weather, high intelligibility speakers. Together, Washington Professional Systems of Wheaton, Maryland and Audio Design Solutions of New Market, Maryland performed the site analysis, system design and installation.

Cedar Point is a 364-acre amusement park located on Lake Erie's shore in Sandusky, Ohio. Its newly renovated Midway area is an extensive pathway for park guests to walk from one side of the park to the other. The Midway serves as the home for the East and West Skyride Stations, the Midway Plaza; Luminosity Stage; the Interactive Fountain; Snoopy Boutique; Attitudes; the large Coliseum Arcade and more. The focal point of the Midway is the newly designed "Luminosity Stage", a gathering place where guests are captivated by live music entertainment, lasers, lights and pyrotechnics after dusk.

Cedar Point is a multi-faceted venue that requires highly intelligible speaker systems that perform well for announcements, pre-recorded and live music. Sound quality, weatherproofing, value for the money and ease-of-use out of the box were winning attributes of the One Systems products for both Washington Professional Systems and Audio Design Solutions.

"Cedar Point is right off of Lake Erie, so the loudspeakers are going to get hit very hard with tough Great Lakes weather so we needed speaker systems that could withstand lake effect snow, wind and ice," mentions Eric Choucroun, Account Executive at Washington Professional Systems.

Choucroun and Chris Evans, Owner of Audio Design Solutions configured the placement of the speakers specifically for each venue throughout the Midway. Great care was taken installing different systems in each area. "The greatest challenge was figuring out how to cover so much square footage of park as evenly as we could. We were also under a strict, one week timeline and a very specific budget, but working with One Systems was a breeze," says Choucroun.

Speakers in the Midway Plaza include twenty truss towers with 212IM's installed on each using One Systems PT-70-2 pan / tilt and pole mount brackets and additional 212IM speakers were installed with One Systems 212IM-U U-Brackets. "These are some of the best brackets we have found," mentioned Choucroun. The Luminosity Stage also includes One Systems Portable Outdoor Powered Systems (POPS) that include POPS15s, POPSSubs as well as 106IM speakers. There are also 48 x 212IM speakers installed throughout the park.

Choucroun also raved about the customer support he received while working with One Systems. "I would have to say that One Systems has the highest level of customer support in memory. We had all of our technical questions answered quickly, and then there was an amazing effort to get me real time information with regard to manufacturing times and logistics. It was a great experience," states Choucroun.

"This was an intricate space to configure, but through optimal aiming and placement we were able to cover all of the spaces evenly and each guest in the Midway area is able to clearly understand announcements and hear music without it bleeding into other areas of the park," says Choucroun.

One Systems President Doug MacCallum comments, "We are very happy to be working with Washington Professional Systems, and excited to be involved in supplying our highly intelligible, weatherproof speakers to Cedar Point, the "Roller Coaster Capital of the World."
