At the trade show (Barco booth #301), Barco demonstrates its full laser portfolio including its seven new projectors: high-contrast and high-brightness flagship laser, BLP, CLP, and SLP series, Alchemy ICMP (HDMI2.0) and APX 1.0 AuroMax®.
“We’re launching two new laser phosphor projector ranges and two high-contrast models to continue our commitment to the ‘all-laser theater’ conversion. With brightness levels ranging from 7,000 lumens to 60,000 lumens, these new products will further complement Barco's line of laser projectors,” says Stijn Henderickx, Vice President of Cinema at Barco. “In line with our innovation and market leadership in laser projection, Barco offers the broadest portfolio of laser projectors covering a wide range of brightness levels.”
“The importance of China in the conversion of cinema to laser cannot be underestimated. We are proud that together with our long-standing and trusted partner, China Film Group (CFG), we are leading the conversion of the cinema market to laser,” comments Wim Buyens, Senior Vice President of Barco Entertainment. “The combination of cutting-edge Chinese innovations as the ALPD laser light sources and Barco technologies yield truly impressive results.”
At theater 2 of the Hong Kong Exhibition Center, Barco organizes live demos of the brand-new BLP and SLP laser phosphor projectors that are premiering at CineAsia 2016:
During CineAsia Barco is organizing a VIP exclusive show at AMC Pacific Place. This theater has been tailored by Barco's AuroMax® immersive sound system, creating a brilliant new audio and video realm with unprecedented image quality and unparalleled natural sound.
The 6P RGB DP4K-20LHC is also showcased at AMC. DP4K-20LHC combines a contrast ratio of 6,000:1 with brightness level of 18,000 lumens (36.000 lumens for DP4K-40LHC). Meanwhile, AuroMax® has achieved a new breakthrough in technological innovation: an extra ‘area’ has been added to the surrounding layer to support the discrete movement of audio ‘objects’. This innovative technology takes full advantage of backward-compatible interoperability to achieve the perfect fusion of immersive mixing effects brought by the Auro 11.1 format and the innovative ‘object-based’ rendering technology from IOSONO – for the ultimate audio-visual feast.
At the foyer of the tradeshow entrance, visitors will enjoy a Barco Escape pod.
Barco Escape features a triple screen setup with the screen angle maintained at 100-110 degrees through the innovative use of the cinema space, projecting super-wide images via three DCI-compliant digital cinema projectors. This year has been fruitful for Barco Escape. In addition to collaborations with both old and new cinema partners from eight countries to create ultra-widescreen panoramic viewing experiences, the release of a blockbuster and the production of ten Escape films have been announced. The Hollywood drama ‘6 Below’, the first film entirely in the Barco Escape format, has also been completed.
“Barco Escape is committed to providing the industry's most engaging theatrical viewing experience that can only be enjoyed in cinemas,” says Todd Hoddick, CEO of Barco Escape. “We are thrilled with Hollywood's adoption of Barco Escape and the results we are driving for our global cinema partners. We're currently focused on bringing exciting new films to the format that will be released in 2017 and beyond.”
