Breast imaging workshop in Mexico

From 15 to 19 August, the 13th National Mastology Congress took place in Queratéro, Mexico. The event attracted no less than 3,000 radiologists, oncologists, gynecologists, medical physicians and technicians. For the occasion, Barco and Fujifilm organized a special breast cancer screening workshop for 50 radiologists. Barco provided 25 workstations, equipped with Nio 5MP, Coronis 5MP and Coronis Uniti displays.

Eliminate suffering through technology

The workshop, organized by Fujifilm and Barco, was given by visionary physician, researcher and educator Dr. László Tabar. Over the course of his 40-year long career he has been committed to reducing or eliminating suffering and death from breast cancer. As an expert in the field, Dr. Tabar is convinced that cutting edge technology and education play a key role in early breast detection. “Discovering breast cancer in the earliest phase possible requires high-quality viewing stations to discern the very fine difference within the breast tissue. The image has to be very sharp, and the viewing station has to have the right resolution.”

Saving women’s lives in Mexico

The breast cancer workshop was the first of its kind in Mexico. Dr. Tabar: “It’s going to have a very big impact on the physicians’ ability to provide proper diagnosis for the women they take care of. As the number of women with breast cancer continues to rise, so does the need for trained radiologists. That’s why we are planning future courses already.”
