The Customer

A local AV Design company is working with a multi-state theme park to deploy multiple messages within their parks. 

The challenge

Those long lines at Theme Parks can be so tedious, but many parks now put in multiple displays with entertaining content to temper the boredom and frustration. In fact, the successful operator no doubt builds excitement and enthusiasm for the ride and park with great content and reliable displays.  The customer was looking to not only distribute the video, but they also wanted to control the remote displays, which only support serial commands.

The Hall Research Solution

Recently Hall Research got to meet the challenge when an AV Design Engineer contacted them regarding their need to deploy an AV over IP Solution to multiple theme parks. His ambitious design involved extending over 100 video sources to 500+ remote displays over multiple theme parks on his 10G Network. In his research, he luckily found the FHD264 system from Hall Research, which he believed would be the perfect AV Over IP Solution with Serial Over IP (SoIP) control.

The Benefits of Working with Hall Research

The engineer reached out to the Hall Research support team and explained his project details and requested samples for evaluation. The sales and support teams reacted swiftly and sent him the evaluation samples. When he installed the evaluation samples at his site, he was impressed by the quality and performance of the product. While he solved the video extension problem, his requirement for controlling the remote displays using RS-232 was only partially satisfied with the FHD’s default behavior. The problem was not in sending the commands to the remote displays, it was at the receiving end where differentiating the responses back from multiple displays was not separated.  He expressed his concern back to the HR Support team, and they promised to solve his problem with a firmware update. In the next couple of days, the Hall Research Engineering team developed new modes in both the encoder and decoder to solve this problem. These modes not only satisfied his needs, but they also added more advanced features to alleviate any future problems that he may not have anticipated.

The customer was able to install the system he had designed, and he also communicated a need that the designing engineers had not foreseen which allowed them to improve the firmware to be installed on all new models.
